Drill Procedures

 

Fire Drills

1. Three short-rapid rings of the bell is the signal for a fire drill. When this signal is given, all teachers and students will move rapidly and quietly in single file from the building to the designated areas.

2. One person should be designated in each class to be responsible for seeing that all windows and doors are closed and lights turned off.

3. Each teacher should have his/her roll book and emergency kit. After assembling on the outside, you should check to make sure all students are accounted for and in place.

4. Two (2) rings of the bell means that you may return to the classroom in an orderly manner.

 

Bomb Threats

1. Three short rings of the bell is the signal for a bomb threat.

2. One person should be designated in each class to be responsible for seeing that all doors are closed and lights turned off. Windows should be left open.

3. Each teacher should have his/her roll book and emergency kit. After assembling on the outside, you should check to make sure all students are accounted for and in place.

4. Two (2) rings of the bell means that you may return to the classroom in an orderly manner.

 

 

Tornado Drills

1. One long ring of the bell will be the signal for a tornado drill.

2. Check to make sure all windows and doors are closed.

3. At the signal, teachers and students will move quickly and quietly in single file out into the hallway. In the hall, students will be seated on the floor with their back against the wall and knees bent with a book covering their head. Students are to remain quiet.

4. Each teacher should have his/her roll book and emergency kit. After assembling in the hall, you should check to make sure all students are accounted for and in place.

5. Two (2) short rings of the bell is the signal to return to class.
